We have some very good news to share today with regard to Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series of books… Per Rice’s son, Christopher, who is spearheading the writing, it now has a showrunner.
Dee Johnson (“Mars,” “Nashville,” “The Good Wife,” “ER”) will be overseeing production on the series featuring fan favorite Lestat de Lioncourt, and you can read all the details below straight from The Vampire Chronicles Facebook page.
The best part? “In our first meetings with Dee, she spoke with moving eloquence and clarity about the characters and relationships that define this series, their outsider perspectives and their moral dilemmas – all the elements that make The Vampire Chronicles a probing exploration of cosmic and spiritual questions perfectly suited for adaptation in the era of peak T.V. Character and texture – those are the hallmarks of her creative approach as we chart Lestat’s origin story. Exploring the psychological complexity of our vampires, while ensuring the physical production beautifully depicts the elegant and rarefied way in which our vampires see and experience the world…”
While Dee might not have worked on any horror projects, she does definitely seem to be a great choice. We’ll keep you posted as further developments come in so stay tuned!
