Michael Caine vs Killer Bees Flick The Swarm Unleashed on Blu-ray

Warner Archive Collection has just announced that Irwin Allen’s The Swarm starring Michael Caine will be (no pun intended) swarming Blu-ray this September. The 156-minute extended cut of the 1978 killer bee movie has been newly remastered in high definition.

The Swarm is directed by Irwin Allen and written by Stirling Silliphant, based on the novel by Arthur Herzog. It stars Michael Caine, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark, Richard Chamberlain, Olivia de Havilland, Ben Johnson, Lee Grant, José Ferrer, Patty Duke, Slim Pickens, Bradford Dillman, Fred MacMurray, and Henry Fonda. Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Poltergeist) composed the score.

The Swarm will be released on Blu-ray via Warner Archive Collection on September 25th. Pre-order HERE.

Synopsis:
Producer/director Irwin Allen unleashed an end-of-the-world thriller based on scientific fact:  Killer bees, then active in Africa and South America, were on the move… into North America!

There are enough stars for five movies – Michael Caine, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark, Olivia de Havilland, Henry Fonda, Fred MacMurray, Richard Chamberlain, Jose Ferrer, Patty Duke, Lee Grant, and Bradford Dillman. But the scene-stealers are the supporting cast: an estimated 22 million bees, deftly deployed to depict deadly attacks on people and places. It’s a nightmare that will give you quite a buzz!
