Rest in Peace: Steve Dash

Some truly sad news has crossed our desk regarding one of our favorite people in the horror genre… Steve Dash, who played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 2 passed away yesterday (December 18th) due to complications from diabetes.  He had recently undergone amputation of one of his legs and seemed to be in good spirits; however, things took a turn for the worse.

Dash, age 74, was a retired NYPD officer who was the first to portray Jason as an adult.  He was a familiar face on the convention circuit and much beloved by the franchise’s fan base.  Along with F13, he appeared in such films as Alone in the Dark Mr. Hush, and Nighthawks.

Many of us here at Brainwaves had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Steve, and we send our condolences to his friends and family.  He will most certainly not be forgotten.
