When it comes to horror on TV/streaming platforms, we are living in a pretty amazing time, what with shows like “Castle Rock,” “Mr. Mercedes,” “Stranger Things,” “American Horror Story,” and many others filling the airwaves. Joining the fray in just a few days is “The Purge” on USA Network, and to prove how high they are on the series, they’ve unleashed a slew of stills and a couple of featurettes.
But even better than all of that, they’ve launched The Purge Shopping Channel, where you can browse all sorts of merch like t-shirts, hats, pins, cleaning supplies, a 12-hour candle, balloons, and LOTS more. Unfortunately, you can’t really buy the items, but they do have ecards available and a mailing list you can join to stay up-to-date on all things “Purge” related.
“What Is America?” – Episode 1.01 – airing September 4th

Based on the hit movie franchise from Blumhouse Productions, “The Purge” revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.
Hannah Anderson, William Baldwin, Gabriel Chavarria, Fiona Dourif, Jessica Garza, Lili Simmons, Lee Tergesen, and Amanda Warren star. “The Purge” is written and executive produced by film franchise creator James DeMonaco and led by Jason Blum. Additionally, the entire team behind the blockbuster franchise are on board to executive produce: Michael Bay with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form under the Platinum Dunes banner and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly serves as executive producer/showrunner of the series. Emmy and Golden Globe award-winner Anthony Hemingway directed and executive produced the premiere episode.
